IDRS 2012 Day -1

This was a long day on the interstates, traveling from Syracuse, NY to Springboro, OH (south of Dayton). Traffic was moderate to heavy all day, but was moving acceptably about 99% of the time so it wasn’t bad.

At 3:45 in the afternoon, with the car reporting an outside temperature of 104, I stopped at Graeter’s Ice Cream on West Lane Avenue in Columbus for a great treat – a waffle cone with a scoop of Banana Chocolate Chip topped with a scoop of Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip. Fabulous! I’m looking forward to the return visit on the way home next Wednesday 🙂

Dinner was a fresh fish sandwich, beer battered, with a side salad and a couple of pints of very much appreciated beer (Fuller’s ESB and New Holland The Poet Oatmeal Stout). Unfortunately, once I got back to the hotel (it was still 102 outside when I left the restaurant at 8:15!) I had to call our insurance company to get the claim process started because Ian was in an accident on the way home from work. He was rear ended and pushed into the car in front of him … all the people involved were fine, but the car sustained some damage primarily to the floor of the trunk (crumple zone) which we’re concerned may cause the insurance company to total the vehicle. Meanwhile, he has no way to get to work unless he drives the somewhat compromised car, and he has a 45 mile commute. Sigh.
